Lies are the chains that keep you weighed down at rock bottom.
Officer Noel Carlson isn’t out to anyone in small-town Stratton, Pennsylvania, only to distant friends and family, so a relationship is out of the question. That doesn’t stop him from wanting one, though.
When a night-shift call brings him face to thonged butt with a hired stripper whose girl-party gig went terribly wrong, Noel takes pity on the guy and lets him go. But he can’t get the encounter out of his mind.
Shane has big-time debts to repay, especially to the brother who sacrificed nearly everything for him. His two jobs, in a deli and as a stripper, leave him no time for a social life. But a non-date of hot sex and takeout food with Noel? He can squeeze that in.
The bond they form is stronger than either expected or wanted. Especially since the step Shane’s about to take to put his brother—and his soul—back in the black isn’t quite legal. And he never calculated just how much his determination to make things right will cost him in the end.

Oh my lord, these men will wrap around your heart and never let go ! I'll remember these guys forever. Shane is 24, brown hair and eyes, a deli worker, but strips, etc. to help pay of medical bills. Noel is the golden-haired cop who rescues Shane in the beginning of this deep novel. Be prepared dear reader, get comfy, and have three hankies ! We get strong, beautiful, enduring characters. This is an intense dark tale of anxiety, tension, and love, because there are the secrets, the palpable frustration of a damaged memory, the failing health concern of another, and the internal struggle of good vs. bad, all of which keep us on the edge of our seats throughout. Remarkably written with passion, detail, and heart. I felt the only times I relaxed were during the amazingly erotic, powerful M/M sex scenes.. This is wonderful, yet complicated. Tearful yet heartwarming, for the amount these people endured. Our characters are magnificent in their strength, undaunted by every new roadblock, and they move forward, time after time.I highly recommend this full-bodied A.M. Arthur story. E N J O Y !!!

The Truth As He Knows It Perspectives #1 edition by AM Arthur Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I struggled with my rating of this one. In the first 50% I was just so so with this book, but by the end I wanted more.
Small town cop with a terrible painful past and the other MC with a mountain of debt he he struggling to pay. Yes we have seen this before from this author but luckily for me I love the "Cost of Repairs" book and continued on. The parallels veered off in the way Shane worked to help pay off the debt, from stripping and then moving into porn (more on the porn later)
I loved the relationship between Shane and Jason. The brothers had been through so much together and Jason was working his butt off in two jobs to pay off the debt from Shane's hospital stay, all the while never complaining, love in its purest form. Even when at times it must have felt like they peed in some gods cereal, the guys could just never catch a break. His devastation and hurt when he found out about the porn was well written.
Noel he was a paragon. His relationship with Tristan was a highlight in this book. The care and friendship shown was lovely to read. But Noel needed to have a blow out get angry about something, anything, he was entitled. Even when he found out about the porn he was pretty calm.
Shane, I felt for Shane, so much had happened to him and yes he made some bad choices, but his heart was in the right place. I wanted him to get out from underneath it all and be free to be Jody without the guilt and baggage.
The porn didn't sit right with me. I read a lot of books that have the porn industry in them, the Johnnies series is one of my favourites, but this part of the book left me feeling cold. Shane's hate of what he was doing and his whole thought process around it was horrible. At least with the Johnnies books while the guys are all in it for different reasons, they at least enjoy themselves while there. Shane hated it and although he consented to be part of it, it came across really sleazy and almost like abuse.
The last 15% of this book devastated me. Here I was, happily reading along with my rose coloured romancia land glasses on and the boom total devastation. It just wasn't fair, but then life isn't fair. The ending bounced my rating up in this case as I realised that I had fallen under the spell of these guys and actually cared about them.
I will be eagerly awaiting Tristan's story as no one deserves a HEA more than him
I ended this book with tears and hope for the characters. There is so much pain going on in Shane's life. In his brother's as well. They have had a rough life and ate finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Noel isn't out to most people, but he can't keep his mind off of Shane. They have a few ups and downs, but if you work for what you want them things will work out.
The ending was painful, realistic and not fair. I get it, but I wish it didn't happen. Now I have to read the next book to see what happens with Tristan and check in on these guys.
I love A.M. Arthur. The writing style always grabs me. It's easy to read and I can get caught up in it. I couldn't put this one down, as is always the case with these books. The characters were excellent, full of depth and interest. The reason for the 4 stars is that it did have a wee bit too much angst for me personally. I was churning the whole time and the ending upset me. It wasn't what I needed. The pieces with Tristan that were left hanging, I figured they were for another book in the series—and so they were. ) I have to say, I LOVED the book with him in it. But back to this one. A few people have mentioned the POV changes and I usually love alternating, it was confusing at times but this was corrected in the Tristan book and worked beautifully.
Despite these things, I do love A.M. Arthur's books and continue to read one whenever I get some money. The sex scenes were so well written, and very sexy. When you write m/m, you can get a wee bit jaded but COR... very sexy, sensuous, and hot. Very real too. I admired the writing through here enormously because writing a good sex scene takes real skill and this author has it in spades.
I like how things are set around the town of Stratton and we see characters cameo from the other series too which I also loved.
One more thing, the dialogue is always well written and believable. I'm always taken for a great ride with these books and will continue to read this author. Thank you.
